Why acupuncture is great for digestion and gut health.

Feb 22, 2022

Importance of gut health.

When we think of health, we often think of physical health or mental health, but our gut health is vitally important. A healthy gut, (also known as the second brain), has been demonstrated to contribute to a stronger immune system, improved heart functioning, lighter mood, better sleep and much more. Effective absorption and metabolism of the digestion system is well researched, documented and proven to have an impact on whole-body health.

Causes of digestive issues.

Acid reflux, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea are symptoms commonly reported in clinic.  Often a GP diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome is made.  A good physician will want to get to the root cause of the irritability.

It’s recognised that lifestyle choices may play a part in poor gut health but there are other factors to consider as well, such parasites, bacteria overgrowth, toxins, environmental pollutions and of course your body’s ability to metabolise food and excrete toxins.

If your symptoms are persistent, take control of your health. Knowing your gut health is important and tests can be taken to understand your health better.

 How an Acupuncturist can help.

An acupuncturist can make a GP referral for tests if it is deemed necessary, can discuss lifestyle choices and adaptations to contribute to improved health.

Acupuncture as a healing model is often explained as neuroscience, acupuncture points stimulate central nervous system, to reduce hyperactivity and stress as well as releasing your natural chemicals that will trigger the body’s unique healing abilities that in turn has a positive effect of the functioning of your organs. The skill of an acupuncturist lies in the ability to make a traditional diagnosis of your body’s disharmony in reference to Traditional Chinese Medicine theory to bring your body back into balance.

Receiving acupuncture treatments will improve organ function and restore balance to the gut, as well as eradicate acid reflux, improve metabolism, regulate bowel movement, reduce bloating, heart burn, pain, inflammation and brain fog, making you feel more energetic and like your old self.
